Are You Trying To Catch Your Own Tail?

Ah yes, the dog that tries to catch its own tail. Going around and around, faster and faster but never catches it. At one point in time the dog finally realizes that it is not succeeding and goes on to do something different.

An analogy of the tail chasing dog routine is the lives many of us are living each day. We wake up and start our daily routines doing the same things day in and day out. Going around and around never catching it. The catching it?

Accomplishing our goals and desires

Do you relate to that? Most people do so if you do, you are not alone. From this analogy an important revelation arises: The major difference between dogs and we humans in this case is:

Dogs finally know when to quit and we humans don’t

We keep pushing it and pushing it trying harder and harder to catch our own tail. Do we learn from it? No. We get up the very next day and start it all over again. Day in, day out, month after month, year after year! Doing the same things over and over again all the while wondering when are things going to change.

So What Does That Mean?

It simply means that despite the fact that you keep putting forth your best efforts, you keep failing to accomplish your goals. Even though your results show that what you are doing is not working, you still keep doing the same things over and over again expecting different outcomes.

Did you know that insanity has been defined as doing the same things over and over again expecting different results? I am not saying that by any means you are insane. I am saying this to make you aware that you are wasting good energy accomplishing very little.

Do You Want To Accomplish More In Your Life?

Then follow what the highly successful do. Observe what you are currently thinking, feeling, and doing, then make whatever changes are necessary that will lead you down a new or different path to your goals and desires!

Successful people are constantly observing their thoughts, feelings, and actions to ensure they are in alignment with each other. Why do they do this? Because it leads to their results and here is a major fact that all successful people know:

Results don’t lie! What are you results?

Is your bank balance where you desire it to be? Are your relationships where you want them to be? Is your body in the shape you desire it to be? Are you feeling good about yourself?

If you answered no to any of those questions then most likely it is due to repeating the same things that are not working over and over again hoping that some how things will work out.

3 Things To Consider:

  1. If you keep thinking the same thoughts you will keep getting the same feelings.
  2. If you keep feeling the same feelings you will keep taking the same actions.
  3. If you keep taking the same actions you will keep getting the same results.

End Result: You will get no where!

I am here to promise you that if you keeping doing things the same way you have always been doing them, 5 years from now you will be no closer to your goals then you are now.

Successful people realize this and don’t kid themselves that some how some way things will work out on their own.

Things will only work out when we work them out

No one but you can make the decision to stop chasing your own tail. No one but you can make the decision to make necessary changes in your life. No one can succeed in your life but you.

A Simple Step To Stop The Tail Chasing Syndrome:

Do something different!

If that doesn’t work then do something else. Keep experimenting with different approaches and in no time you will make great progress and the path to your success will appear! That is of course if you can make the decidion to stop chasing your own tail!

I welcome your comments and experiences

As always I wish you much success and happiness,
